Well the Chy Carne site was wild when we got there, nearly full by the look of it, a mixture of mainly tents, lots of groups, Motorhomes and Caravans. The shop sells all the woods etc. for a fire and also rents out fire pits, although we took our own. Friday was scorching, and we set up in a large corner plot with the awning and the wall. Met the neighbours and the vibe was good.
Slight disappointment with the first outing to the sea, at least a 20-minute walk from the site down a very narrow lane, dodging cars coming up and down, and dogs on the beach only after 6PM. But there is a bar right on the beach and also at the top of the lane. The reason that I say this is the venue is based on Kennack Sands. (Sounds like the seaside, right)? There is a view of the sea from the site, and a dog walk to the other beach, but again about a 25 minute walk to that beach also, so my imagined siting on a beach site was a little was shattered, but, the site itself is well maintained, with good showers and toilets.
There is a marquee-type bar in the centre of the site which is adequate, but with the fire pits smoking up in the evening sunshine and the buzz and proximity of our neighbouring campers, a good happy feeling pervaded.
Chy Carne has a pizza and ice-cream parlour Friday and Saturday and while we were there was a pub quiz for the Jubilee in the marquee.
All good!
