The weather continues to be scorching, we found out today (after several wonderful visits) that the stunning little beach at Combesgate turns out to be not dog-friendly! Still we spent the afternoon down there yesterday with lots of other doggie families, with the dogs and their balls, in and out of the sea and the sand and rock-pools.
Just the sort of early evening walk that they appreciate!
Then, as promised we walked around the beach to Barricane, where we did stop for a Sri Lankan Curry, washed down with our own ice-cold Thatchers Gold Cider!
The curry was good-£13.00 for meat or Veg, well presented, tasty, and very well prepared for a take-away to eat on the sand, i.e. nobody wants curry sauce dripping down their speedo's right? So they pack it with vegetables and boiled rice, and have the consistency so that it is a bit gloopy, but easy to eat without issues.
The fact that we were there at 6PM, and were surrounded by locals with beach chairs, parasols, beer and wine, all happily noshing away, shows how good and consistent it must be!
Back to Woolacombe for a beer-well a bit tricky with parking and choice of venues, so we headed back up the hill to the clubhouse and sat in the sun admiring the view with more Cider, and realised that we still had the chance to get our eyes down!
Lyn won the first round and £20.00, before finally watching the sun go down over Lundy Island.
Blissful day, still a bit hot for the dogs, but you'll never hear me complaining that it's too hot!
Putsborough tomorrow.
