Monkey Tree Site Review

...and it didn't dissapoint.

The trip up from the south of Cornwall was straightforward, a wrong turn at Bodmin and the wrong "left" turn in mmm , both fortunately easily rectified, and we rolled into Monkey Tree on a Sunny Saturday morning.

This is a very well kept site, with a big and efficient reception and check-in. The pitches (we booked a fully serviced 'Super' pitch), well protected and spacious. We also picked this site as there was more entertainment and facilities.

By now it was mid-June and the site was quite quiet. There is a deceptively lovely dog walk, set as a country lane, which is perfect for your early mornings, that goes quietly all nearly all the way around the perimeter.

The wi-fi was tricky, which is irritating. It took me the first two days, and £20, along with a few queried conversations with the wi-fi Company to get cracking, so once it was on it was great, but took an annoying amount of time and hassle to sort.

Facilities, Bar, Shop, take-away, several toilet blocks, beautiful outdoor swimming pool, Clubhouse/bar, Kiddies area with sandpit, very good crazy golf, etc. Great for families, not really us, although disappointingly, our little dogs were not allowed in the club, which was another annoyance-as we were then unable to use this facility at all (being one of the reasons that we booked). Seems a bit strange this, we would have ended up in there every night, we can't leave the dogs in the van. (We did this once, while we had a game of golf, but had a phone call from the office on hole number 10, informing us the dogs were howling)! I reckon this no dog policy (not just for us)! would cost the club about £150 that we would have spent in that week, but, hey-ho!

...Anyway-saving grace was the site's position. Near to Newquay, but really close to the beautiful Perranporth beach, sands and dunes, and situated right by the gorgeous Holywell Bay. (This part of Cornwall is also just 18 miles wide, with therefore easy access to St Austell, Charlestown and the south Cornwall coastline).

Because of the heatwave, we kept the dogs cool during the day, and raced down for a beach walk in the sea every morning, on Peprranorth beach, Holywell, or Perranporth Sands, the choice is amazing!
