Site review Woolacombe Sands

So, nearly finished the reviews of our sites visited in June, and because nearly everything was perfect here at Woolacombe, I will give a quick resume as I have posted a review on this site earlier (actually whilst we were there).

Will just re-iterate the pitches here ('Super pitches") again! were amazing! They are so generous that you can spin your caravan, motorhome, tent around to face the delightful views over the valley, beach and sea out over Lundy Island. Fabulous!!

This is a very busy site with a lovely clubhouse with music, bingo, reasonable food (watch out, the portions are massive)-and a stunning view of the sunsets over the bay.

Well worth a visit and the sands (3 miles long and ending at Putborough Sands) are long, expansive and delightful. There are also some little coves and bays to the right of the main beach and on the way up the narrow windy road to Mortehoe, being Combesgate and Barricane (absolutely lovely with rock and sand pools, with easy access, although the former, (one of our favourites with the dogs) we found out isn't actually dog friendly!! (Although they seemed to love it)! LOL!

And on Barricane is a Sri Lankan Curry shack, loved by tourists and locals alike, and a very pleasant evening we spent here with our dogs, lager, wine and curry!

Also in Woolacombe, the best pasties that we had found in our entire journey, albeit in Devon! at Fudgies Bakehouse, not cheap at £4.50 each but their regular "Cornish pasty" was judged by us to be superior to anything that we had tasted in Cornwall (including 'Steak Pasties' elsewhere (the one we had in the Lizard had just the one piece of gristly beef chuck in it)! So well done Fudgies.

Well done also to Putsborough, (stunning), and to Croyde (lovely), a windey lane drive away. Again, loved this area and particularly the site and it's views!
