Petruth Paddocks Review

A bit of a trek this, on the way home and we've been before, but this site at Cheddar we loved last year on the corresponding bank holiday weekend, which was buzzing!

The journey from Woolacombe was straightforward, across country up till hitting the M5 and from there (despite a deluge), an easy run in.

Jules welcomed us himself, showed us to a massive pitch in one of the back fields, but close to all services, so we had a rural look out, shared with just a couple of other campers, (tents and campervans). We had our own fire pit which are actively encouraged at Petruth and so it was a great little camping experience.

Cheddar village is walkable, and there are some lovely pubs, cafes, shops and facilities nearby. A little walk up the Main Street gets you into the Gorge, and there is plenty to do nearby, with beautiful scenery, and the little gem that is Wells is very close by car.

Two reasons we picked this site (this now our third visit), It was on the way home, we had to drop little Eevee off with Corine, our daughter, and, as stated, we loved it so much the first time we came.

Yet again, with hindsight, it was the wrong thing to do; It was very quiet, and it was not by the sea. We should have hung out our last week at the seaside, because we got here and we missed it so much! Ah well!

Site is sprawling, well situated and tidy. Great toilets and showers, coffee bar and breakfast bar at the weekends, fire-pits all round. No internet. Sits in a valley with lovely views and sunsets.

This is a brilliant camping site, but go when it's busy. This is the best way to enjoy Petruth, and I bet it is brilliant there tonight, bank holiday weekend Friday night 26th August 2022.

Thanks Jules and team, very nice vibe and we will be back.

This is my last site review, they are now up to date. We are going off-piste now with a Norwegian Fjord cruise this weekend, then we are off back down to Cornwall to

Trebellan, a little site we found near Holywell and close again to Perranporth.

Thanks to my readers, at Woolacombe, Corine suggested I concentrate on promoting the blog on Instagram, and since then my Joemollyandthelane instagram following is now up to 450, so not too shabby! Thanks everyone!

Will post from the Fjords!
